Tie Collection Quilts

Quilt Made from School Teacher’s Collection of Ties

The quilt displayed above was made from a retired grammar school teacher’s lifetime collection of 55 ties. These ties were remarkable in that every one of them was distinctive, brightly colored and designed to delight any grammar school kid. My client said that few teachers wore ties to work anymore, but he managed to wear one every day. His pupils often added to the collection and every tie had its story so to display them in a quilt was a meaningful way to enjoy the ties and the memories that went with them while also owning a beautiful quilt.

He chose the Dresden Plate pattern which amply displayed the ties. I chose primary colors as background due to the bright and colorful nature of the ties.

If you have a bunch of ties that you have stashed away but that have meaning for you, please contact me and let’s discuss what we could make with them.
