T-Shirt and other collection quilts are becoming increasingly popular as memory quilts – a way to display a collection or remember an event – or as bereavement quilts, quilts made out of the clothes of a loved. They also make great quilts.

Sport Shirts Collection – Chris’s Quilt

Some kids are lucky enough to have a mother who recognizes how wonderful a quilt can be if made out of their favorite t-shirts. It is a gift that last for years to come.

When Chris was in the eighth grade, his mother promised that for his birthday he could have a quilt made out of his sports shirts. Being a working mother, she didn’t have the time to make it herself, so she sent me his wonderful assortment of shirts, including a boy scout uniform complete with badges. I placed the badges in the four corners of the quilt and the result was a 66″ x 57″ quilt he could wrap around in, use on his bed, show off to friends, and treasure as the years go by, perhaps someday showing it to his own son.

Track Team T-Shirt Collection – Sarah’s Quilt

Many of us save our t-shirts, thinking that someday we’ll make them into a quilt. Unfortunately all too often that someday never comes. Sarah saved all her high school track t-shirts for the day when she could make them into a quilt. But these days Sarah is a small business owner and has a family to care for which includes two small kids so there just isn’t time to make that quilt. So having the quilt made for her allowed her to enjoy those t-shirts that mean so much to her while having a quilt she loves.

Father-in-Law’s Christmas Gift – T-Shirt Collection Quilt

Sarah’s father-in-law collected t-shirts from auto racing shows. He had so many his wife threw away a bunch of them. But before she did, Sarah collected a few and had me made the quilt shown below. When he opened his Christmas gift, he loved his new quilt. He is shown proudly showing off his new quilt.
