Beautiful quilt .. what a wonderful heirloom to pass on to their children.
I was inspired to do a rug hooking of Jaro Hess's Land of Make Believe...saw the print in an antique shop and was mesmerized by it. Amazing that your father actually knew him! There is almost no information about him online.

Beautiful, a real rain forest, but too much detail and applique , actually just too much work for me. Want something a little simpler and easier, but it truly is beautiful, if i had a year to do it, then maybe, but not for now

Thank you Missy. This is my reward for making these quilts. I do have to make a living and so I do charge for my work, but my real reward is hearing people like you respond, knowing I am helping in some small way in the healing process and giving pleasure through my quilts.

Thank God I found Rosie. I lost my mom almost two years ago and had no idea what to do with all her clothes. I just knew I wasn't just giving them away or throwing them away. I sent Rosie a variety of her clothes and she made my family the most wonderful quilt. Words can't explain how she has helped me through the grieving process. Every time I wrap up in the quilt I think of mom and to see my kids wrapped up in it is priceless. Thank you so much Rosie for helping me remember!

Thanks! So glad you like it. There is no pattern as such, but I got the idea from Judy Mathiesen's boo"Mariner Compass". It is very much like one she shows in the book, but there is no pattern for it. I tried to make one for two weeks and finally had a friend who was a computer drafter draft it for me. This was necessary because the flying geese don't match any set pattern but are gradients - each slightly bigger. I made it to "impress" my boss at the time, an engineer who had commissioned a work. It was way above my skill level, which of course had to rise to meet it. I did paper piece it, using the pattern the drafter made for me as my template and then paper punching seven copies of wax paper at a time (which can be used over and over. It took me about 400 hours to finish and I didn't get what I should have for it - I was too timid at the time and too new at the game to know its value.
