Wall Hangings
All sizes of quilts can qualify as wall hangings, but usually they are smaller and lend themselves to display rather than used for bedclothes or throws. Many of my quilts have been used as wall hangings. Below is an example of smaller (banner) quilts meant only as a wall hanging.

The four banner quilts above (approx. 20”x 35” each) plus a fifth made for a grandchild are my depiction of sunset over Phoenix, Arizona. They are all made from nine shirts belonging to a musician whose sister commissioned me to make these quilts for four relatives who were grieving his loss (plus one for his granddaughter). My client had been struck by the beauty of the sunset on the hills above Phoenix where she had scattered her brother’s ashes. The client, herself an artist, helped in every aspect of the design. At the bottom of each quilt I sewed the first few bars of his favorite song, “Amazing Grace”, using one of his shirts for the staff and many of his buttons for notes.
