Photo Quilts
Photo Quilt – Memories of Jesse
Sometimes the clothes of a loved one are no longer available, but there are pictures. One mother approached me with twenty-one pictures of her son Jesse. Before her nineteen-year-old son died, they used to talk in the evenings, sitting on the couch while watching TV together. She wanted a somber quilt dotted with his pictures to wrap around herself. The pictures scanned his life, almost from birth through his graduation. Below is the flannel quilt that I made, inserting the pictures approximately in chronological order. Photos used in a Story Quilt

Photos can be part of a quilt but not the focus. In this story quilt I used a photo of Tracy’s wedding ceremony to complete a picture of an important event in the life of her father Frank Glover who had given her away.
